Dafina Braithwaite

Dafina Braithwaite has more than 11 years of experience working with children and youth. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University. 

 Dafina began working with children while enrolled in the Riverdale High School Early Childhood Education Program. After a year long training process, she became a Student Teacher in the Riverdale High School Day Care Center. She cared for the students and coordinated daily lesson plans. She also served as a Student Teacher Assistant for two years after the program was converted into a Preschool. Under this new title she was responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans for all subject areas for one week per semester.

 As a Psychology major at Clark Atlanta University, Dafina continued to work with children, volunteering as a Tutor at The Wheat Street Gardens Enrichment Center. She provided individual and group tutoring for twenty children in Mathematics, English, Reading and Computer Applications. As a sophomore, she volunteered as a Tutor for the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA, helping participants with their homework. The following year, Dafina became a Puppeteer for Mental Health America of Georgia, where she is still involved. She performs prewritten mental health related scripts at schools, after school programs, health fairs for children around Georgia. In this capacity, Dafina is able to combine her passion for helping children and her training in psychology. During her senior year in college, Dafina interned as a Corps Member for Jumpstart Atlanta at Morehouse College with Spelman College. She was trained to tutor the students in reading using the Dialogic Reading method.

Presently, Dafina is a tutor for the Future Foundation. She helps students with their homework and assists the Program Coordinator and the teachers. Plus, she leads the Future Foundation Future Professional Leaders of America Creative Writing Club.
