Karen Young is an Atlanta native educated in the Atlanta Public and Fulton County School Systems. After high school, she attended Georgia State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate. For three of her four years in college, Karen worked in early childhood education. Plus, she's active in church activities related to youth and teens. She believes the education system owes each child a solid foundation of proficient reading, writing and basic math skills. She works each day to provide these skills to Reef House Teen Center youth.
Her favorite pastimes are reading, watching HGTV, volunteering in order to encourage financial literacy, combating ignorance, homelessness and hunger—and playing with the family Boxer, Chopper.
She is a Reef House Teen Center Teacher. Also, she is enrolled at Southern Polytechnic State University working toward a master’s degree in Accounting. But she hopes to continue working in a capacity to directly help shape the lives of young people and the underprivileged.
