Darius Wimby, College for All Coordinator

Since joining the Future Foundation staff in September 2011, Darius has been working very diligently with the Teen Center students as the College for All Coordinator. Darius was born and raised in the great city of Atlanta, GA, and his family and friends affectionately know him as “Big D”. He is known to be a serious individual that is about business, but he also has an exciting personality that typically commands the room. He is a caring and committed individual that will give 110% to everything that he puts his mind and heart on, even for his students.
Darius graduated from Georgia State University in Spring 2010 with his B.A. in Journalism and is a Certified Event Planner (Event Production and Tradeshows) through the Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality. He is currently pursuing his M.A.T. degree in English Education to one day teach high school English in either DeKalb County or South Fulton County. Education and mentoring are two of Darius’ passions and motivations to do what he does in the classroom and in the community. With seven years of experience through community service, mentoring organizations, and summer camps, Darius takes great pride in ensuring that every student he meets is equipped with the necessary tools to prepare them for life.
Outside of work, he enjoys watching TV, hanging out with family and friends, listening to music, reading, and most importantly, laughing. Darius also enjoys cooking and baking (famous for his lemon cake with glaze) for many people. Darius is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and serves as his chapter’s Director of Education and Scholarship Chairperson. He believes in making a difference with everything that he does, and he will continue to be a positive role model for those people that he mentors and young people in his community
