Ms. Lillie Neal Ghant has lived in the Atlanta area for more than 38 years. She is the second of three daughters born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Neal of Woodland, Georgia.
Ms. Ghant left home to further her education, and after graduating she went to work for Norfolk Southern Railroad. While at NS, Ms. Ghant worked as a keypunch operator and was promoted several times. Before the end of her career, Ms. Ghant had worked her way into several management positions, the last being the railroad contact to six Ford Motor Company plants in the U.S. and Canada. Ms. Ghant took early retirement from Norfolk Southern after 30 years of service.
After enjoying a brief retirement, Ms. Ghant went to work for the Coweta County School System before accepting her position with Future Foundation. Ms. Ghant comments, "I am so appreciative of our founder and his family for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this good work—trying to make a difference in the lives of so many young people."
Ms. Ghant has worked with children in many areas including: sports clubs at Creekside High School and Drama Parent Club chairperson at Tri-Cities High School. At her church, Living the Word Church of God, she has been chairperson of the scholarship committee, youth group, and her choir. She currently serves as a Sunday school teacher.
She is the mother of two sons and the grandparent of twins.
