Thousands of students, parents and friends met at Greenbriar Mall on July 31, 2010 to distribute school supplies, backpacks, a raffle, prizes, enjoy entertainment and a youth fashion show. NBA All-Star coach Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Atlanta CIty Councilwoman Keisha Lance Bottoms, Harry the Hawk from the Atlanta Hawks and others attended. RealTalk ATL held a forum for teens, a Kids Corner, a Community Resource Fair and more.
Every year, thousands of children from low-income families can't afford basic school supplies. That’s why we host our annual back to school rallies—providing fun, educational activities and giveaways for students in grades K-12.
In August 2008 and 2009, Future Foundation’s rallies in Atlanta, Georgia and Oakland, California, distributed more than 2000 free backpacks filled with school supplies to students in need. These events and their impact on the community continue to grow each year. Our rallies feature:
