In today’s society, marriage is very rare. Many people are either divorced, independent, or living with their partner. Fifty percent of today’s marriages end in divorce and half of all divorces occur in the first seven years of marriage. There are millions of couples that stay together, but are unhappy which damages the relationship and potential to be married. Also many couples do not marry because they want to avoid he problems associated with divorce or marriage. Marriage seems to be a thing of the past, but even through times, some marriages have succeeded. So, is it possible for people to stay married during these times?
Yes, it is possible! Most successful marriages last because of hard times. All marriages may look perfect on the outside, but in reality it is different on the inside. In marriage both couples must learn to deal with both extremes and work together. For example, Frank and Anita Milford, Britain’s oldest couple is still married. The couple has been married for 80 years and still happy with each other. There are times when Frank and Anita Milford don’t quite see eye to eye, but they have never let the odd disagreement get in the way of their love for each other. They say the secret to a lasting marriage is to iron out your arguments before bedtime and share a kiss and a cuddle every night before bed. Even though they have endured a lot in the past 80 years, they still try to see eye to eye with one another and work out their problems.
Therefore, marriage is social, spiritual and legal union of marriage. By having education, a relationship and communication skills training can really empower a strong marriage.
